Quick, to the Batmobile!

Take a closer look at Lanvin’s SS22 Batman collaboration

Last October, Gotham City was pulled out from the comic mutiverse and into our own courtesy of Bruno Sialelli‘s SS22 Lanvin collection. In a collaboration between the Parisian fashion house and DC Comics, pieces were dedicated to the crime-fighting duo Batman and Catwoman. With the collection announced to drop in stores in March – coinciding with Matt Reeves’ brooding new cinematic adaption, The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as the titular hero – we figured it a good time to raise the Bat-Signal and revisit the collection.

Worn by an A-list cast that included Paloma Elsesser, Asia Argento, Luv Resval and Naomi Campbell, comic book panels adorned asymmetrical shirting as models carried Batmobile bags and the house’s Curb sneaker transformed into Batman’s masked head. Elsewhere the heavily-stylised Art Deco Gotham of Tim Burton’s 1992 cinematic classic Batman Returns informed the deep palette and dramatic silhouettes as structured shoulders echoed both Batman’s iconic suit and the towering skyscrapers that the Caped Crusader dives between. Explore the details behind the collection below.
