Bringing a taste of Antwerp to Florence’s Fortezza da Basso, Belgian designer Ann Demeulemeester is this year’s special guest at Pitti Immagine Uomo 101.

Spotlighting Demeulemeester’s four decades in the business, this year’s offering sees the Parisian house follow in the footsteps of Jil Sander, Craig Green and Telfar, who have all previously shown at the iconic Italian tradeshow.

Demeulemeester broke the hearts of fashion fanatics across the globe after leaving her eponymous label back in 2013. After being succeeded by French designer Sébastien Meunier, this year the brand found itself on the end of a luxury shake-up after being acquired by Claudio Antonioli, who reopened the house’s Antwerp flagship and recruited Demeulemeester to creatively steer their upcoming special projects.

“We have always loved the style of Ann Demeulemeester, both for her non-conformist approach and ability to calmly, yet resolutely, occupy a precise space on the international scene, as well as for her aptitude for renewal,” says Lapo Cianchi, Director of Communication and Events at Pitti Immagine. “We are honoured to recall here in Florence a story that began forty years ago, in 1982.”

The director hopes to engage an entirely new generation with the work of the famed Belgian designer by creating an event for Pitti Uomo 101 that spotlights the exchange between different forms of creative expression over the gothic-romanticist’s famed career.

Pitti Immagine Uomo 101 will take place on Tue, 11th Jan 2022 – Fri, 14th Jan 2022
