Longtime Raf Simons collaborators Willy Vanderperre and Olivier Rizzo realise a film for the Belgian menswear vanguard’s ninth collection for Fred Perry.

What started as as an intuitive collaboration for FW08, given the designer’s preoccupation with tribes and youth culture has become an evolving, experimental canvas in cotton piqué.

Twenty-nine style and colour options make up the SS14 candy shop, in fade-out ginghams, chessboards and florals.

A standout shirt is the Lady in Grey, a classic Fred Perry with an all-over print of a woman’s face. Part Warhol repeat it’s as much a subliminal nod to his current position at the zenith of Christian Dior womenswear (a certain grey is that house’s team colour).

Imagine that set to the video’s soundtrack, which rouses archive tennis commentary with rattling rave fuel, an era Vanderperre, Rizzo and Simons grew up in. Brain explosion.
