After originally collaborating with US painter Kenny Scharf for their Pre-Fall 2021 collection, Dior have resumed their joint venture with the artist for a specially conceived capsule that pays tribute to Christian Dior’s penchant for a round of cards.

This isn’t the first time the Maison have paid tribute to their founder and his love of games. Back in 2016, French artist Michaël Cailloux was part of the very first Dior Home collection, contributing an entirely hand-drawn set of playing cards featuring all the symbols held dear by the legendary designer. For their latest collaboration with Scharf, Dior have opted for a similar tribute, adopting the ace and king and queen of hearts as the capsule’s recurring visual motifs.

Combined with their signature oblique pattern and the pop-art, street-inspired aesthetic of Scharf (who first emerged in the 80s alongside street art icons Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring), the new capsule unfurl across a range of day-to-day staples. From shorts and a shirt adorned with a single playing card to a black jacket and short-sleeved tees bearing the artist’s new designs, the capsule extends to accessories including a silver necklace and a bucket hat, as well as the brand’s B23 sneakers. Launching from today, the new capsule is available online and in store.
