Celine’s new sneakers are inspired by 90s basketball shoes
Fashion | 24 June 2021

For FW21, Hedi Slimane presented a regal Celine Homme collection set at Château de Chambord. Through the Medieval building’s winding balcony, Celine’s infantry marched, in dark new-wave tones, immaculately tailored armour and the house’s new CT-03 trainers on foot. Now, Slimane releases those sneakers for the public to ensare.

Building on previous CT-01 and CT-02 models, this latest iteration takes inspiration from late 90s and early 90s LA youth, specifically the footwear trends seen on basketball courts across the city. In calfskin hi-top and low-top silhouettes, the CT-03 sneaker is recognised by its branded scratch that loops around the shoe (extended this season across the body and laces), while wavy leather cut-outs complete the aesthetic.

Available in black and white versions, or a vibrant orange profile, Slimane’s exacting attention to detail rings true: the scratch is rendered in high-frequency technical fabric for a more visible logo, while rubber outsoles are crafted for ultimate comfort.

Celine’s CT-03 sneakers are available now.
