Previously, Balenciaga‘s Objects Line gave us a replica Track.2 trainer cast in palladium and brass, weighing in at 2.5kg and limited to a run of just twenty. The next release from the house’s line of unique rarefied treasures is a recycled, reusable and collapsible shopping bag.
A take on the kind of useful accessory you see shoppers holding in supermarket aisles across the world, these Balenciaga iterations are crafted from 100 percent recycled materials, woven with Econyl® yarns – which are spun out of nylon collected from waste such as abandoned fishnets and carpeting – to help reduce single-use plastic waste – now there’s a bag for life. “Each object is introduced individually and designed to be timeless” reads the press release, “from limited edition collectable treasures to evergreen everyday items.”
The Balenciaga Grocery Shopper is now available online and in a selection of stores worldwide.
