For those who don’t know, 2020 has been kind of a big deal for TAG Heuer. It’s their 160th anniversary and they’ve been celebrating the milestone in style, with two special editions of their signature Carrera watches having already been released this year.

Providing the chrome-coloured cherry to proceedings is the third and final commemorative timepiece: the Carrera Sport Chronograph, which has been re-birthed in special, 160-year anniversary form. Available in two colour ways (one with a blue dial and one with white), it’s all the same under the hood, where the Calibre Heuer 02 Manufacture Movement purrs away with unparalleled Swiss precision.

Limited to 1,860 pieces, the new watch was inspired by the classic Heuer Dato 45, which, when it was released nearly 60 years ago was the first Heuer wrist watch to feature a turning disc date. In the words of Catherine Eberlé-Devaux, TAG Heuer’s Heritage Director, “The choice of the 3147N – the in-house reference for the Carrera “Dato 45” – was a bold one because it challenged our design team to create a clean, legible chronograph dial with a date window in an unusual position. They updated and upgraded a true icon, rising to the occasion brilliantly.”
