sonic celebration

Watch Jarvis Cocker perform a tribute to legendary choreographer Michael Clark
By Alex James Taylor | Music | 16 October 2020

Tune into the Barbican website at 20:00 tonight to see Jarvis Cocker perform a sonic response to the gallery’s new exhibition dedicated to his friend and collaborator, Scottish dancer and choreographer Michael Clark.

With his newly-formed band, JARV IS…, the Sheffield songwriter will be performing an exclusive set of songs related to Clark: including The Velvet Underground’s Venus in Furs, a newly arranged version of Further Complications from Cocker’s eponymously titled solo album, and a cover of Big New Prinz by The Fall. The session will take place in three different spaces: Charles Atlas’s newly-commissioned immersive film installation A Prune Twin (2020), a recreated set of Clark’s collaboration with The Fall for I Am Curious, Orange (1988) and Tits in Space and Cnut by Sarah Lucas.

Watch the performance at 20:00 tonight here.
