A new series about The Shining’s Overlook Hotel is coming
Film+TV | 17 April 2020

Fiction’s most haunted hotel is back open for business: HBO has commissioned a new TV series inspired by the Overlook, the haunted hotel featured in Stephen King’s 1977 novel, The Shining, and subsequent 1980 Stanley Kubrick feature.

Inspired by and featuring characters from King’s classic novel, Overlook is set to explore “untold, terrifying stories” behind the hotel across ten episodes.

Produced by J.J. Abrams (Star Wars, Star Trek, Lost) and Ben Stephenson – head of Bad Robot television – as part of a three drama deal that also includes Duster, following a gutsy getaway driver in the 70s, and a DC Justice League Dark show. Stay tuned for release date details.
