It’s been a big few days for British actor Jodie Comer: first she wins an Emmy for her portrayal of Russian assassin Villanelle in BBC drama Killing Eve; now she fronts Jonathan Anderson‘s SS20 Loewe womenswear campaign.
Released today, the new imagery – shot by Steven Meisel – sees Comer looking deep into a mirror “in a moment of introspection before going on stage.” Released as a triptych, the campaign also features a photograph of a manicured hand squeezing some flourescent goo, taken from Loewe’s photography series, A Show of Hands, which is set to explore contemporary symbols of protest later this year, and a still life introducing the SS20 Lazo Mini Bag.

“Jodie is exceptionally talented, and what’s so magical about her is that she is 100 percent committed to an idea,” says Anderson. “I find that incredibly inspiring and I think that’s why people have gravitated towards her, and why we wanted to work with her in this campaign.”
‘Jonathan and his work are so incredibly distinctive,” Comer says of working on the campaign. “It’s inspiring to work alongside someone who pushes boundaries and creates in the way that he does. I feel the Spring Summer 2020 collection really accentuates and celebrates femininity, which is a complete reflection of my experience shooting the campaign. To have had the opportunity to work with Steven Meisel and to have been supported and encouraged in the way that I was, is something I am extremely grateful for and will never forget.”
