Balearic beat

Farah take us back to Ibiza’s heady heyday
Fashion | 10 April 2019

From a bohemian hangout in the 1960s to a rave mecca in the 90s, the Balearic party isle of Ibiza has proved a fruitful and enduring muse. Now, US heritage brand Farah dips its toes in the White Isle’s waters for a new collection inspired by Ibiza in the 90s, when it earned its reputation as a raucous, under-regulated party capital.

A decade soundtracked by the island’s famous (and infamous) megaclubs – the likes of Ku, Pacha and Amnesia – and populated by thousands of revellers who descended on the island each summer to let loose and lose control, Farah has taken that idea of youthful, heady mischief as its key SS19 influence and translated it across a new summer ready-to-wear collection.

Mixing this spirit with the brand’s classic silhouettes, we get sun-bleached hues informed by the island’s nature, food and culture, neon jolts in homage to those intense nightclub light shows and prints inspired by Terrazzo stone patterns – a commonly used material in Ibizan architecture. While the flora and fauna of the island become bold prints across shorts, shirts, tees and swimwear.

Farah’s SS19 collection is available now.
