After re-opening his renowned Harlem boutique in December 2017, Gucci and Dapper Dan have once again collaborated on a limited-edition book dedicated to the life and work of the designer, shot by American photographer and regular HERO contributor, Ari Marcopoulos.

The photo book, titled Dapper Dan’s Harlem, launched 8th January at Gucci’s edenic Florentine venue, the Gucci Garden, just in time for Pitti Uomo 95. The book, which is limited to 500 copies and published by IDEA, follows Marcopoulos’ journey through Harlem, passing old storefronts, street corners and of course, the site of Dan’s eponymous boutique. As well as featuring original imagery of the area, Marcopoulos, who is himself a native of the city, shot a number of portraits featuring friends of both Dan and the House, including artist, director and designer Trevor Andrew, Harlem chef Marcus Samuelsson and artist, poet and author Cleo Wade.

This is the second publication for Gucci by Marcopoulos, whose 2016 title Epiphany saw Gucci’s 2016 pre-Fall collections photographed over the course of seven days in a Milanese palazzo.

Dapper Dan’s Harlem is available online at IDEA book as well as the Gucci Garden in Florence and the Gucci Wooster Bookstore in New York.
