Still, ‘The Neverending Story’ (1985) dir. Wolfgang Petersen

According to Andy Williams, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. However, it can also be a pretty stressful and tiring time, taken up by benign family chat, minor indigestion and sub-par TV. We get it. So we’ve asked some of our favourite people to curate their own Christmas survival guide, selecting their ideal films, music, food, location and more for a top Chrimbo experience.

Next in our survival guide series, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the powerhouse couple behind Kenzo who will be spending their holidays in typical fashion: among huge extended families. It’s been a customary full-throttle year for the duo, who last September unveiled Leon’s directorial film debut with The Everything, a thirty minute short shown during New York fashion week starring Milla Jovovich, Jay Ellis and Regina Hall. Find below an assortment of their best-kept secrets for a Kenzo-style Christmas.

Film

“The Neverending Story – although it’s not holiday specific, it seems like a good time to remind oneself to not let ‘the nothing’ take over and to be in a positive state of mind.”

Food

“At some point, a Chinese seafood dinner is a must. Why? Because why wouldn’t we? It’s delicious!”

Travel

“We either spend Christmas in Los Angeles, New York or Key West! Sometimes we plan something new (like Seoul last year) too…But with big extended families…We try to pick somewhere convenient for everyone.”

Soundtrack

“Do They Know it’s Christmas? Because it’s got some pretty iconic people on there and its for a good cause. What is better?”

Drink

“Always a Vodka soda with extra limes. Maybe around this time a tiny splash of cranberry to be festive…but who needs the calories and sugar? There are so many other sweets to eat!”
