The Row, the American luxury fashion design house founded in 2006 by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, has announced its first official menswear collection, set to drop in October.
And it’s been a while in the making. In 2009, The Row introduced a temporary menswear collection alongside womenswear, both offering a variety of fitted tees, knitwear and minimal tailoring. Then again, in 2016, the brand released menswear essentials as a study into their market to see what exactly customers want, like or dislike about certain garments to allow room for adjustment.
Having recently uploaded a teaser image on their Instagram, the design duo have given us an hint at what to expect from their debut FW18 menswear offering. With aims to “combine the refinement of a classic bespoke experience with the precise minimal masculine style of New York specific to the’80s and the’90s” the new collection acts as The Row woman’s husband.
Taking on the same luxe approach as its womenswear equivalent, this new men’s line draws from international expertise: the tailored pieces are made in Japan with traditional European hand-stitch techniques, the shirting produced in France, the knitwear in Italy and the denim and t-shirts in the US.
