A novel approach

Guests at Loewe‘s FW18 show each received a bit of reading: a classic cloth-bound novel repurposed with a special wrap-around sleeve adorned with iconic Steven Meisel imagery. Featuring the likes of Wuthering Heights and Dracula, later these same publications appeared across the Spanish brand’s campaign imagery. Its FW18 men’s campaign saw British actor Josh O’Connor reading Madame Bovary – with a sleeve featuring an image of Amber Valletta shot by Steven Meisel for US Vogue in 2006 – while the same season’s women’s imagery saw model Stella Tennant getting stuck into Miguel de Cervantes’ classic Don Quixote.
Now, these publications are available to purchase this month at select stores. Presented in a neatly designed box, titles included in the series are:
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Dracula by Bram Stoker
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
Madame Bovary, author Gustave Flaubert
A blending of classicism and modernity, it’s something of a calling card for the brand’s creative director Jonathan Anderson and a skill that has seen him shift Loewe’s heritage story in tune with his own vision. Whether he’s incorporating artworks into his show spaces or finding the next artisan talent via the Loewe craft prize, the British designer always offers extra-curricular learning with his work. This latest step into publishing adds yet another string to his bow and presents you with the perfect excuse for joining that book club you keep thinking about: to show off your Loewe hardbacks, of course.
The boxset is available now on Loewe.com and at the London Mount Street store.
