Having announced his departure back in October 2017. Christopher Bailey showcased his final awaiting collection for Burberry on the 17th February. Recreating key features from their archives, they established a contemporary check pattern to show support of celebration and commitment to the LGBTQ+ committee.
Think back to that moment and you’ll remember British model Adwoa Aboah opening the show in an oversized pink graffiti hoodie and paper dress with a rainbow-(faux) fur streak. Taking that relationship between model and brand to the next step, Burberry tapped photographer Jurgen Teller to shoot a three-part portfolio featuring Aboah with friends and family.
Having shot the first part at Regent’s canal in North London – Aboah’s stomping ground – this next chapter sees the project move to Aboah’s adopted home in Manhattan’s Bowery neighbourhood, the model’s stateside home.

This NY instalment features models Jean Campbell, Riccardo Ambrosio and Oli Green, Adwoa’s sister and artist Kesewa Aboah, photographer, filmmaker and writer Jonah Freud, celebrating the themes of community, family and support that surged through Bailey’s final Burberry collection.
‘New York is my second home. I have made a nest here and created a community of the bestest friends in the world,” said Aboah. “Most of them are Londoners on a rite of passage, living away from home for the first time. New York is exciting, offering something day and night. It has skylines that go on forever, intimidating and suffocating but always beautiful and never boring.’
The third and final portfolio will be unveiled in May 2018.
