On Saturday 17th February Christopher Bailey will present his final show for Burberry, having announced his exit from the brand in October last year. Ahead of the date, the designer has announced that this collection will be a celebration of, and commitment to, LGBTQ+ communities.

Creating a tangible emblem of this inspiration, Bailey has combined Burberry’s iconic check with the LGBTQ+ rainbow to create a new iteration that symbolises optimism and inclusiveness – the rainbow check pieces will be available for purchase immediately after the show. Elsewhere, the brand has also made donations to three charities – the Albert Kennedy Trust, the Trevor Project and ILGA – all of which are dedicated to providing mentoring and resources to LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

“My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to – and in support of – some of the best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world,” says Bailey. “There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength, and our creativity.”

The Burberry FW18 show will take place on Saturday 17th February at 17:00, check back here for our full report.
