Wes Anderson has released the first trailer for his new film, Isle of Dogs.

The film sees Anderson once again using stop-motion animation – nearly a decade after his last stop-motion movie, Fantastic Mr. Fox – and features an impressive cast, including Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Jeff Goldblum, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston and Yoko Ono.

It was previously stated that the film revolves around a young boy in Japan who embarks on an existential odyssey while searching for his missing canine.  However, this new teaser reveals that the film is set “20 years into the future”, where canine saturation has reached epidemic proportions and dog flu has ripped through the city. Therefore, Mayor Kobayashi issues emergency orders, calling for Trash Island to become an exile colony for dogs.

Isle of Dogs to hit theatres on 23rd March, 2018.
