Away from his Dior and Fendi duties, Kim Jones is keeping busy, having collaborated with alochol brand Hennessy on a special, limited-edition collection – marking the first time the alcohol brand has partnered with a fashion designer.
Drawing on Hennessy X.O’s 150-year heritage, Jones reworks the brand’s story in line with his own creative codes. The result is a sleek decanter, a limted-edition Hennessy X.O bottle, and the HNY Low sneakers, inspired by early basketball shoes and cast in a light cognac-coloured nubuck leather. Finding similarities between cognac-making and couture, Jones finds a common sensibility in an understanding of science and the natural world alongside artisanal craft and savoir-faire.
“I’m fascinated by the rich heritage of Hennessy, a household name behind which artisans have spent hundreds of years creating this special cognac,” says Jones. “Storytelling is very important for me regardless of what I’m designing or who I’m collaborating with – I want my designs to educate and inspire people through the stories they tell.”
