2020 not only marks Wolford’s 70th anniversary but the would be 100th birthday of legendary US photographer Helmut Newton, who shot a series of specially commissioned posters for the hosiery brand back in the 90s. To celebrate this joint landmark, Wolford are releasing a limited edition t-shirt capsule featuring works from that fabled collection.

GALLERY

Three t-shirts make up this retrospective collaboration, each printed with a single, large scale reproduction of those photographs which have since been exhibited around the world at a number of leading galleries and museums. Originally shot in Monte Carlo, with the help of Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue editor Polly Mellen, the photographs were a portent representation of the modern woman, one who thought nothing of wearing tights (and not much else) to the beach and who refused to shy away from her sexuality.

In turn, these images came to form the blueprint of the contemporary Wolford woman, serving as the bedrock to their design vision and engendering a bold new aesthetic that is still recognised around the world. With production restricted to a limited run, you’ll have to act fast if you want to slip one of these masterpieces into your wardrobe.
