Nothing is overworked. Silhouettes are sharp, sexy, precise: important…” read the show notes for Stefan Cooke SS22, the creation of the namesake designer and his design partner Jake Burt. Titled Gimme an ‘S’, the collection looked to the golden years of the British high street, and its future, urging towards a more ethical, sustainable world.

Models took to the runway at The Old Selfridges Hotel show space to a pulsing techno soundtrack in looks that leaned into a preppy schoolboy aesthetic; topped off with baker boy caps and loafers – with a little bit of leather kink in the mix. With this idea of the fleeting becoming enduring we saw sequins repurposed, cast in iron and transformed as a chainmail effect top that danced to the allure of the dancefloor. Elsewhere, belts featured infinity motif clasps. and bondage tops revealed glimpses of skin beneath. Knitwear was key throughout, with the biggest cheer (and most instagrammed) going to the Union Jack jumper, echoing the iconic Geri Halliwell dress from the 97 Brit awards but with added Johnny Rotton snarl.
