sequin supernova

MSGM FW22 was a glittering love letter to the stars (via Bjork)

MSGM happen to know a thing or two about enticing your inner superstar. Season after season, the brand brings a peppy, technicoloured spirit to the Milanese runway that is just infectious – but not in a ‘worldwide pandemic’ kind of way.

This season the brand presented an ode to the cosmos, hence sequined mesh halters, embellished draped suiting and reveals nipples in slouchy outerwear. Titled Astrophilia, as in harboring actual feelings of love/obsession for those distant, dead planets that look so beautiful on a cloudless night, the collection was rooted in a Bjork-led 1990s – from the soundtrack to new house logos inspired by the musician’s celestial album artwork, which caused swirls of metallic hues – think ink blue, zinc yellow, amethyst, dew and quarts – to adorn colourful two-sets and fuzzy gowns.

Satin slip-dresses practically burst with the energy of the intergalactic in captivating prints, while rhinestone milky ways formed on wide-leg denim and translucent bodysuits. In this stylish continuum, even earth-shattering ripples in the fabric of time and space are to be embraced as a uniform for out of this world delight: it’s a sequin supernova, for crying out loud.
