Petrolhead
Racing into the season with a turbo-charged agenda, KNWLS want their girls to live life on the edge. Debuting a collection titled Petrol, design duo Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault conjured the perfect wardrobe for a biker gang, even the catwalk looked like a Harley had just done a wheel spin on the gravel-covered surface.
Fresh from a collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier, those punk-infused codes were mirrored in this season’s offering as cracked leather and metal hardware underpinned the London brand’s vision. Corset-hemmed moto jackets, low-slung wide-leg trousers and KNWLS’ cult Fang and Razr bags were all crafted in hefty leather – studded and tasselled. Always toying with loose nods to the noughties, denim was bleached and transformed into sweeping trench coats, floor-skimming skirts were slashed and panelled in a frantic sea of material, and thigh-skimming mini dresses were crafted from diaphanous fabrics. On foot, thigh-high biker-cowboy boot hybrids and lace-up chunky buckled mules were major.
Closed by HEROINE 19 cover star Mia Khalifa in a subdued yet slinky number, just when everyone thought it was over, Lily McMenamy appeared, drawing the show to a final bow in a teal bodysuit from the Gaultier collaboration, paired with a head-turning vampy walk to ensure showgoers left with the KNWLS girl etched on their mind and the screeching of tyres ringing in their ears.
