Hodakova FW24: suitcase dresses and exploded coats
By Barry Pierce | Fashion | 6 March 2024

When you look at an Ellen Hodakova Larsson garment, you can always tell exactly what it used to be. It’s what makes her collections so exciting, that anticipation of what casual items she is going to raise to the level of high fashion. The ingenuity that was on display during the Hodakova FW24 show won’t be forgotten by guests any time soon.

A model paused on the runway and slipped on the suitcase she was carrying as if it were a dress. Coats were exploded and reconstructed to be worn with the lining on the outside. Silver dining trays were bent around torsos and a corset was constructed from two pairs of leather boots. The final look was a dress made entirely out of pitch-black rosettes. A semi-finalist for this year’s LVMH Prize, Hodakova is surely a front-runner with her 100 percent sustainable brand that is equal parts clever, hilarious and desirable.
