Following last week’s BFC Designer Menswear Fund 2016 shortlist announcement, yesterday saw Craig Green picking up the headline prize.

Having founded his eponymous label after graduating from the Central Saint Martins MA course in 2012, Green has placed himself as one of London’s most exciting and innovative designers. Sometimes controversial, always arresting – just think back to his ethereal SS15 constructions that brought the audience members to tears. That’s the beauty of this designer’s work – his ability to transform clothing into something we can not just wear, but connect with.

“The panel was impressed by the focus, determination and talent of the shortlisted designers,” said Caroline Rush CBE, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council. “All have bright futures and will play key roles at London Collections Men. But, there can only be one winner and Craig demonstrated incredible maturity, he has a clear plan of how the fund will benefit his business and how the mentoring can assist in his business growth over the next three years.”

Congratulations, Craig. Display it proudly and make room on the mantelpiece for many more of this sort.
