As one of the Antwerp Six, it’s fair to say Walter Van Beirendonck has seen a lot in his years designing. Yet there are very few who have used similarly lengthy career stints to question hot societal topics as fervently as he has.

This season the designer looked to individuality in our age, and the impact of our fast paced environment on the way we express ourselves. The direction here also traced native tribes and specifically those of Papua New Guinea, as well as the Western world’s surface perspective on many such cultures.

Opulent deconstructed tapestry tailoring progressed to the trademark Van Beirendonck striped leggings and a surreal series of beachside and animal prints. Detailed, layered and loud, it was Van Beirendonck fantasy world at its finest.
