The Perry Ellis Spring 2017 collection kicked off New York Men’s Fashion Week mixing the old with the new whilst giving a nod to the classic American leisure wear synonymous with the label. Focusing on a neutral palette of navy blues, khakis, dusty floral and camouflage with the occasional pop of orange and peach Miami colour, the collection featured casual outerwear with a modern take on the classic suit.

Two prints were prominent themes throughout including a botanical leafy design and a large floral rose outline stamped on the back of some jackets. The collection breathed new life into the meaning of mid 90’s ‘athleisure wear’ by matching modern day cuts paired with floral printed resort pieces. Describing the collection as a ‘collage’, the creative director designed a line that is playful, fun and reminiscent of Perry Ellis’ famous belief that fashion dies when it takes itself too seriously. A collection to take you from Florida hotel gym to poolside drinks and a night out on the town, teleporting you back to a time when pagers were more popular than mobile phones.
