“Palm Angels puts the world in your hands”, read one graphic-print long-sleeved top from the brand’s SS20 collection, and that sentiment did indeed ring true. The label’s offering was essentially a homage to the humble charity shop and all its worldly treasures.

The brand created a dressing-up box with direction, as Palm Angels delivered an assortment of pieces from different stylistic personas. The utilitarian aspect was there – sweeping hi-shine waterproof jackets and all-white looks covered in buckled straps felt workwear-appropriate.

On the other end of the spectrum, vibrant colours and eye-catching graphics played a central role. Boxy Hawaiian shirts came with contrast leather pockets, while oversized butterflies sprawled across the chest of longline coats and mesh basketball jerseys. As to be expected from Palm Angels, there was also a selection of ostentatious accessories: multicoloured Peruvian hats, thin sports shades and rubber bands clustered together into lei-like necklaces added to the incongruous aesthetic.
