Feng Chen Wang’s utility wear-clad adventurer explored new territories this season. Usually more grounded in the physical realm, she instead found inspiration in the notion of a sixth sense, to form something less tangible, more emotional.

The dreamscape opened with flesh-toned leather briefs, a satin corset, cuban-heeled shoes and a black band around the leg that recalled women’s stockings. The leather, used across the collection, had a plasticky, fetishistic texture. In some looks it was gathered into Wang’s signature rumples and puffs – here, she called it “Jenny Saville-like rolls”. This was a more sensitive direction for her outdoorsy protagonist, but still wonderfully demonstrating Wang’s skill for twisting kagoules and tracksuits into nightmarish fantasies of their former selves.
