Look 24

Junya Watanabe abandoned the wood cabin holiday of FW14 for a patchworked foray into the realms of the blue jean baby. It’s a trope we’ve seen quite a bit of over the past week or so, yet Watanabe’s treatment was different, combining east and west with hybrid precision.

Patched and stitched tailoring led the way, loose and soft enough in cut to give this season’s boy a gentle, human feel. And while silhouettes effortless transitioned to the sporty zone it was a quiet movement, detailed shirting in all shades of forget-me-not blue paired with subtly technical outerwear. That’s the fun of this designer – his ability to transform old into new and something done into his own.
