In recent seasons we’ve seen James Long delve into the sci-fi, exploring everything from velodrome chic (SS14) to outer space (FW14). Considering the leanings of today’s sportswear these are worthy references, but yesterday’s thrifty journey was refreshing.

The collection told the story of a retired boxer who has left his sport to pursue a more spiritual life. Boxing ribbons cut and stitched met with classic blue denim and Jesus sandals – a nod to the see-the-light tale of Long’s SS15 hero. Relaxed and casual, this was a new James Long that will no doubt be received well when it comes to crunching market numbers.
