Blue Monday
A wave of calm washed over attendees, as Nico’s I’ll Be Your Mirror played before the show. James Long’s FW15 range followed on with serene patterns of black and navy on trousers and shirts. The soundtrack of Circus Life’s Fufanu was obscure and ambient. Paired with tattered and torn knitwear, loose threads and unstitched ends gave looking casual an edge. Lots of layering complimented the cut and boxy fit of combat jackets, with illustrations by James Davison of the Sacred Band of Thebes printed on fine jersey garments.
Harking back to his first collection, oversized-collar sheepskin, quilted leather bombers and distressed denim were given a twist, juxtaposed with lace and mesh embellishments. James Long’s glamour-meets-grunge lusts after and caters for the runaway boy. It’s mysterious, a little dark and ever so appealing.
