Come as you are

Isabel Marant SS23 was a 90s time-warp driven by riffs and beats

The grunge-loving, Nirvana-on-rotation man Isabel Marant crafted last season returned or SS23, and this time he was joined by a techno-loving friend. Continually inspired by the decade, the 90s continue to reverberate, driven by tie-dye compositions and distorted guitar riffs.

Denim is always a staple in any Marant collection, but SS23 promises it will be bleached, lilac and acid-washed – as if melted in the sun at a heatwave festival – while signature pieces from the decade resurfaced as layerings of stripes, camouflage and Aztec prints. Giving way to a voluminous silhouette, cuts were nonchalant, as workwear was elevated in conjunction with Marant’s subtle yet meticulous craft. Creamy pastels, sequin-inspired prints and signature terry cloth fabric underscored the collection’s sense of lightness and touch. Meanwhile, hints of neon, sportswear styles and graphic details took us into the night, guided by a thumping techno beat.
