A huge banner of gold foil blanket and gold glitter drum kit might not be the first things you’d expect to run into at a Dries Van Noten show. Yet this designer has embraced a playfulness over the past seasons that doesn’t betray his sophisticated bohemia.
His languid silk florals met tension in vests appliquéd with the number 9, a basketball motif that didn’t detract from the overall mood. As didn’t the female musician banging away hi-hats, snares and a bass drum, a pied piper for his boys.
Harmony is a given when you’re as established as this Belgian, design as intuitive as handwriting.
