Enfant terrible

Coach SS17

Having celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2016, this season heralded a new phase for Coach. Still rocking it as the ultimate house of leather, Executive Creative Director Stuart Vevers showcased a collection that was heavy on the signature goods (leather bags and jackets) but updated with hand-painted floral designs and kitschy prints that added an element of post-punk attitude.

Studs, chunky zips and big buckles adorned many of the pieces as did random details like small metal badges, bottle caps, Mexican style skull prints and quirky devil emoticon smiley faces. The colour palette cued black, dark and deep reds with a small run of olive green. With it Vevers showcased his versatility, balancing the drawcard Coach heritage with an urban sensibility that appealed to the new kids on the block.
