Kick-starting the Milan shows, Ports 1961 artistic director Milan Vukmirovic led spectators into a disused factory in the southern outskirts of Milan. ‘Less Hate, More Love’ was the theme etched across this season’s collection, echoing the sentiments of many of the LCM designers the previous week.

“Fashion not only dresses us but affects us and protects us,” read the show notes. “It reflects the times and can convey deep messages.” Vukmirovic’s fourth collection for Ports 1961 was one imbued with flower emblems, tone-on-tone embroidered bomber jackets and ceremonial braiding – toying with a romanticised military look. Conveying a poetic nod in a different direction, the collection encapsulated the empowered masculinity of today’s urban dandy.
