Today, Dior Homme has revealed Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan as the face of its FW17 campaign.

For those who remember Kris Van Assche’s FW17 Dior Homme show – a mega ten-year anniversary blow-out – this decision will make perfect sense. After all, the show boasted a new wave influence that stretched from narrow black suits, to swamping trench coats, to the pulsing soundtrack of Depeche Mode’s Policy of Truth.

Joined by American actor – and star of Manchester by the Sea – Lucas Hedges, and models Dylan Roques and Christophe T Kint, the David Sims-photographed images shift aesthetic from previous monochrome campaigns, instead embracing an 80s style; think ice-cold stares and silver reflective sunglasses with matching razor-sharp fringes.

Combining key figures from across artistic mediums is something Van Assche does with aplomb, look no further than his SS17 campaign featuring A$AP Rocky, Boy George and Mr Robot actor Rami Malek. “Spanning generations and disciplines, they plot an evolution of style that subverts the classicism of Dior Homme today,” the brand said in a statement
