Coming together for their second photography exhibition, digitally-based creative sphere Hotbox will host a one-day-only pop-up shop scouting for the next generation of talent. The Gathering will showcase talent from artists, photographers, designers, musicians, and DJs (as well as keeping an eye open for new faces) at the Hoxton Arches this Saturday from 11am-9pm.

“We’ve been able to create an event that is much bigger and better than our first one back in April,” explains Hotbox co-founder Benji Reeves. “This event is much different from the first as it’s much more than just an art exhibition; it’s a pop-up shop, live music event, exhibition, with brands selling work, and DJ’s playing throughout the day.”

Hailing talent from small coastal towns and villages in and around Brighton, Hotbox is made up of 200-plus arty 20-somethings with a non-traditional approach: Rosie Matheson (who recently participated in the British Journal of Photography’s ‘Portrait of Britain’), pink-haired Audrey Krako, George Muncey, Tyler Reed, Nick Sanderson, and Will Nicholson are just a handful of the emerging talents showcasing this weekend. “I’m really looking forward to showing some new portraits of boys at the Hotbox exhibition,” explains photographer Rosie Matheson. “Having the opportunity to show some fresh work alongside members of the extremely talented Hotbox collective is very exciting.”

Oli East, the adept designer behind this event’s poster, explains what the event means to him: “The atmosphere. The people. The work. For me, it’s all about surrounding yourself with like-minded creative thinking. Hotbox pop-up will epitomise that,” he says. With their first rented London space, a sponsorship, rare artworks up for grabs, and the chance to get your work noticed, it’s a stellar exhibition not worth missing. “The whole day is going to be more than just looking at artwork an pictures – It’ll be an experience,” concludes Reeves.
