Keith Richards oozes rock ‘n’ roll – the Rolling Stone guitarist has always thrown down the gauntlet in terms of Rockstar cool.

Ever since that first chance encounter with a young Mick Jagger on platform two of Dartford station on 17th October 1961, Richards has carved his name into musical heritage, and his influence endures to this day.

Richards’ uncanny ability to go without sleep (he claims he once went nine days without a wink) lends itself to his prolific output, and earlier this year Richards announced that he will be releasing Crosseyed Heart, his third solo album and first since 1992’s Main Offender, on September 18th.

Coinciding with the record release comes a new documentary from director Morgan Neville (20 Feet From Stardom). Titled Keith Richards: Under the Influence, the film traces the recording process behind the release of Richards’ impending record.

“I know who I am. But I realise, people think Keith Richards is smoking a joint, bottle in his hand, cursing the fact that the liquor store’s closed,” Richards says in the trailer for the film. Talking music and the Stones, the guitarist also spotlights the vast influence blues music has had on his career, specifically citing Johnny Cash and Muddy Waters

Richards has recently spoken about trying to get the Stones back into the studio to record what would be their first album since A Bigger Bang in 2005. Fingers crossed.
