Last year, JW Anderson and Wedgwood released their inaugural collaboration with an ode to the renowned British potter Lucie Rie, known for her meticulous approach to technical craft and sgraffito decoration. Now, the second instalment of the partnership arrives, deepening their exploration of light, shadow, colour and form.

Jonathan Anderson’s penchant for craftsmanship is central to every corner of his design universe, carefully curating artefacts and creations that define his artistry. This collaboration with Wedgwood takes notes from the fifth-century Greek mugs in his personal ceramics collection and the hues of the Staffordshire countryside where Wedgwood was founded, tracing a dialogue between antiquity and modernity. The limited-edition pieces are handcrafted from Wedgwood’s iconic Jasper stoneware in Barlaston, honouring the techniques pioneered by Josiah Wedgwood.

“We’ve remained true to the Wedgwood palette, drawing on the surrounding landscape that I believe would have inspired Josiah himself. Wedgwood has always had an incredibly nuanced relationship with colour – it’s never simply about a single shade, but how colours sit alongside and respond to one another. That really comes through in this edition: each set has its own character, yet together they feel part of the same landscape,” says Wedgwood Creative Director Emma Glynn.
