Spring Break 4eva
In curveball movie news, today, a sequel to Harmony Korine’s brilliant, cult 2012 film Spring Breakers has been officially confirmed, however Korine won’t be directing, and none of the original cast will be involved.
Titled Salvation Mountain – after the iconic multicoloured Californian landmark – the film originates from the producers of the original, however it will be directed by Matthew Bright and star Bella Thorne alongside Ariel Martin, Grace Van Dien and True Witaker. Described as “a bold new ride for Gen Z”, the plot is said to revolve around a group of rebellious girls who head off for spring break, but it all soon goes horribly out of control. Sounds somewhat familiar, hey?
“We’re thrilled to be working with Christian and Capture on Spring Breakers – Salvation Mountain and excited to keep exploring bold, new, disruptive stories around that wild, fever-dream of youth,” said producers Chris Hanley and Jordan Gertner. “The desire for Spring Break to go on forever is something we’ve never let go of.”
This isn’t the first time a Spring Breakers sequel has been attempted, back in 2014 director Jonas Åkerlund was attached with Irvine Welsh writing, but it was later shelved.
