Ross Lynch and a kitten for HERO 31
Ross Lynch and his Driver Era bandmates began the year with a bold return, releasing Get Off My Phone and teasing the release of their upcoming record, Obsession. On the cover of HERO 31, Lynch caught up with childhood friend Rebecca Marie Gomez – aka Becky G – to talk touring, band camaraderie and star signs. Ross is a Capricorn, Becky is a Pisces, FYI.

Paapa Essiedu in conversation with Saoirse Ronan
“The psychological preparation or the physical girding of the loins in theatre starts from the moment you wake up.” Saoirse Ronan cast Paapa Essiedu as the male lead in The Outrun (the film marked Ronan’s first time producing), and then we sat the two actors down for the HERO 31 cover interview.

Icons of Horror: John Carpenter and Claudio Simonetti
MAJOR! We photographed Halloween legend John Carpenter in LA, in conversation with Dario Argento-collaborator Claudio Simonetti. Both responsible for the most iconic, fear-inducing soundscapes in cinema, this was a moment. John even gave us this quote: “You should listen to some of the music generated by AI. They have Frank Sinatra singing Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

As he prepared to take on the ultimate heartthrob lead in the Broadway adaptation of Romeo and Juliet – we’ve seen it, it’s great, go see it! – Kit Connor was in conversation with his Warfare co-star Charles Melton for the cover of HERO 32, wearing exclusively Loewe by Jonathan Anderson.

Robert Eggers and Emma Corrin talked Nosferatu
Most recently, we put American auteur Robert Eggers on the cover of The HERO Winter 2024. Speaking to Nosferatu star Emma Corrin, Eggers went deep into the references and workings behind the film. Oh, and Emma gave us our favourite quote of the year: “I had this swimming pool of rat piss in my neck.” It sums up everything.
