Robyn Lynch’s jerseys, now available in XXXXXL
After collaborating on the NOW Gallery exhibition Greetings from Ireland in 2023, Robyn Lynch has reunited with Rory Mullen and Peter Eason Daniels for another large-scale art project. One of Lynch’s most iconic pieces is her version of the Dublin GAA [Gaelic Athletic Association] jersey, which she produced back in 2021 in collaboration with Synflux. Producing unique scans of two of Lynch’s dad’s GAA jerseys, they were then reinterpreted into knitwear pieces made from Japanese cotton yarns as part of her FW22 runway show.
Now, the jerseys are back and bigger than ever. In images taken at Crystal Palace Sports Centre, we see the huge jerseys draped over the terrace seats, referencing a location where many communities unite, with Lynch bringing iconic Irish heritage and iconography to the fore.
