This t-shirt lottery is raising money in aid of Save Life Ukraine
By Ella Joyce | Art | 2 March 2022

It would be a vast understatement to say the current state of global politics is looking bleak, as the Russia Ukraine conflict unfolds and the likes of you and us are rendered fairly helpless in the grand scheme of things. But allowing us to bring aid to Save Life Ukraine through art is London based artist Michael Wall and sustainable design company SPA, who have teamed up for a fundraising lottery in support of those in desperate need of help.

Inspired by the geometric abstraction of the 80s, for this collaboration Wall lends two unique hand-painted pieces from his Cryptid series – that translates ideas of modern folktales and mythmaking through the digital age – hand-printed on SPA’s signature white short-sleeve oversized t-shirts. Professionally mounted and framed by Ray’s Framing in Hackney, these highly collectable works will be sold via a virtual lottery, where tickets are available for just ten pounds – multiple entries are encouraged – and all profits will be donated to Ukraine’s main charity fund, Save Life.

“Ukraine is a country that the team at SPA has been visiting for a few years now,” reads the accompanying press release. “It holds a very special place in their hearts, and they have a whole network of friends and colleagues living there. It’s deeply disturbing for them to see that the beautiful, safe, culturally-rich travel destination – and home to millions of Ukrainians – has now become a warzone. The team are doing whatever they can to support the Ukrainian people and army.”

SPA will be selling lottery tickets until March 12th, more info here.
