Dior’s Summer 21 campaign is a celebration of artistic alliances

Expanding on the collaboration with Ghanian painter Amoako Boafo that punctuated Kim JonesDior Summer 21 collection, the accompanying campaign imagery places emphasis on the lucid colours synonymous with Boafo’s work and his powerful portraiture.

Photographed by Rafael Pavarotti, models are framed by single-colour backdrops – echoing Boafo’s own work and allowing his bold finger stroke illustrations to truly pop. “The searing power of his work, transposed onto silhouettes by Kim Jones is revealed in photographs of pure composition,” reads the accompanying text. “Conceived like captivating dialogues that blend disciplines and transcend borders.”

The collection itself continued both Jones’ and Dior’s commitment to bridging art and fashion, with fabrics printed and layered to create tactile surfaces and embroidered knitwear offering the appearance of a painted canvas.
