Gaspar Noé has created an exclusive short film for Saint Laurent portraying the house’s recently revealed Summer 2021 collection. Titled Summer of ’21, it takes its cues from the first Saint Laurent Rive Gauche boutiques of the sixties, where Yves Saint Laurent stocked his trailblazing RTW collections.

“A world bathed by a red, hazy, velvety light, reminiscent of the glory years of giallo”, begins the accompanying text, relating to the suspenseful Italian genre defined by lurid colours and thriller twists. Within the short film, this influence manifests as a young woman runs screaming through the woods to a large county home. Inside, iconic actor Charlotte Rampling broods as a “mysterious and haunted priestess” while a cast of girls wander through the building’s lavish rooms, cloaked in a hazy colour palette. Suddenly doors open to a theatre auditorium and the girls take their seats as Rampling walks on stage. Throughout, Donna Summer’s hypnotising I Feel Love plays throughout, revisited by French producer SebastiAn.

The project follows the success of Gaspar Noe’s previous collaboration with Anthony Vaccarello, Lux Aeterna, which premiered at the Cannes film festival in 2019.
