British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen has made global headlines after the 48 year-old gave an impromptu performance at a right-wing rally in Washington. Dressed in blue overalls and a thick grey beard, the comedian took to the stage for a singalong at March For Our Rights 3, a staunchly conservative event held by Washington State Three Percenters in response to the March For Our Lives demonstration held in the wake of the 2018 Parkland High School shooting in Florida.

In a scene that could have easily been taken from his most recent satirical series, Who Is America?, Cohen gave a characteristically trolling performance in which he attacked liberals, CNN, the World Health Organization, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Clearly unsure what to make of this unkempt and unfamiliar raconteur, the crowd can be heard jeering in appreciation whenever Cohen feeds them anti-Semitic taunts or lines about “nuking Asians”.

It’s only once he repeats the lines, “Dr. Fauci, what we gonna do? Inject him with the Wuhan flu. WHO, what we gonna do? Chop ’em up like the Saudis do,” a few too many times that the crowd begins to sense something suspicious. Fortunately for Cohen, who was posturing as a major donor from California, he employed his own team of security to prevent the plug from being pulled and then to escort him safely to an awaiting getaway vehicle.
