Simone Rocha collaborates with Petra Collins for a Fellini inspired campaign

Simone Rocha has unveiled her latest collection for Moncler Genius, the 2018 initiative designed to broaden the Swiss brand’s repertoire by inviting leading designers to helm their own label with off-season collections. Recent offerings have included a bus from Rick Owens and puffer coats from Jonathan Anderson

This is Rocha’s fourth for the brand, entitled ‘Exploring New Territories’, which debuted in Milan this February. In collaboration with US photographer Petra Collins, it arrives with a short film campaign inspired by Italian director and legendary surrealist, Federico Fellini as well as groundbreaking choreographers Pina Bausch and Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker.

With an abundance of floral prints, trapeze dresses and tulle, Rocha evokes an ethereal, doll-like quality throughout the collection and campaign photographs shot by Andrew Nuding, playing with period and proportion. Trench-coat looks (of which there are several) come over diaphanous dresses, fitted with bonnet-like hoods lined with frills. Collins’ signature bold use of lighting elevates each look to a kind of hazy apparition which Fellini would surely be proud of.
