Continuing the chain trend he set out in his debut showVirgil Abloh has unveiled a new range of men’s jewellery pieces for Louis Vuitton, offering subtle reinterpretations of those monochrome jumbo chains we saw for SS19 across a new set of pendants, bracelets and rings.

Inspired by timeless Cuban links, the go-to bit of bling for every skater and hip-hop enthusiast, the design is a nod to the wider cultural references associated with the chain. From Raekwon’s iconic 1995 album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx [sic] to Yeezy’s gold-plated incarnation and MTV’S skate sessions, the bracelet-cum-necklace has been an unshakeable component of cool for over thirty years. Now, Louis Vuitton has brought the design to new heights, with an array of luxury finishes including coloured enamel, aged brass, palladium and crystal encrustations.

For a slightly quieter statement, an entirely palladium-finished version is also available as well as two white ceramic pieces (an extension of the SS19 collection, in which Abloh introduced ceramic jewellery) – a pendant and a ceramic signet ring, embossed with Vuitton’s monogram in palladium-finished brass.
