You ‘avin’ scraps with that?

Gucci head down to the chippy with Harry Styles and his chicken

Announced as the face of Gucci back in March with a string of custom suits worn during his solo tour, Harry Styles has appeared in the first eagerly anticipated tailoring campaign for the Italian fashion house.

With this latest campaign Alessandro Michele has not so much pulled at the heartstrings of this island nation as torn them completely, combining the musician heart throb with The Beatles and that most noble and treasured high street institution, the chip shop. A full house as far as us Brits are concerned. Is he a saveloy man? Does he get scraps? These are the questions we didn’t know we wanted answers to.

Accompanied by a typical, if somewhat Anglicised, Gucci menagerie (minus any snakes or tigers) of dogs and chickens, young Mr Styles sets off for a portion of deep-fried delights in a selection of tailored Gucci, including one rather risqué dressing gown. Shot by Glen Luchford the images are quirky and eccentric – our natural raison d’être as Brits, but also a reflection of Michele’s own vision for the brand, here evident with the fusion of his customary whimsical palette and traditional Saville Row tailoring.

A self-proclaimed Anglophile, this is of course not the first time Michele has found himself drawn to the traditions and charms of Old Blighty, with Gucci showing their 2017 Cruise collection in Westminster Abbey and entering a three year plan to support cultural events at Chatsworth House. Long may it continue, we say.
